Slam City 2025 is here! Cape Town's premier poetry slam event returns to a new home—Theatre Arts in Observatory—from April to November. Join us every last Saturday of the month for inspiring workshops, electrifying poetry performances, and a vibrant celebration of community and creativity. This year’s slam features 15 poets each month competing for the coveted Slam Champion title and a R1,000 cash prize, with the audience as judges! 

Slam City’s mission is to elevate spoken word as a platform for storytelling and to nurture emerging talent through curated workshops led by accomplished writers and performers. Our exciting partnerships and events, like The Poetry Picnic and monthly performances at Amazink Unplugged, are amplifying Cape Town’s poetry scene.
